Training for owners of several dogs
What training courses for owners of several dogs in the Dog School Jacobs in Sankt Augustin look like:
- Be the focus of your pack
- Walking several dogs on a leash
- Reliable obedience with several dogs
- Reliable recall
- Secure waiting of one dog while the others are in action
- Simultaneous occupation of several dogs
In the last years, a new trend has developed: more and more people own two or three dogs. To ensure that your dog has a member of the same species to play with, to cavort and to bridge a lonely time, oftentimes a second dog is bought. But careful! Quite often dog owners are surprised that several dogs together can pose quite a challenge. Even if the first dog was absolutely unproblematic, this can change once the
second dog moves in. Dogs like to copy behavior from each other and even if dog number one was completely not interested in deer, it might then happen that the dog realizes how much fun it can be to hunt deer with the new buddy, to pull the leash or loudly chase away other dogs.
These courses train tricks how a dog owner of several dogs can keep everything under control and teach a reliable basic obedience to the dogs. The participants of this course are trained in their responsiveness because several dogs require a great amount of multitasking skills. Apart from that different occupation possibilities for owners of several dogs are presented which strengthen the bond between dog owner and dog remarkably to ensure that the dog owner is the focus of the pack. A wide range of different activities are presented, ranging from parallel activities for all dogs and activities where one dog is waiting while the others are occupied.

Anti-Hunt-Training
What Anti-Hunt Training in the Dog School Jacobs in Sankt Augustin looks like:
- Diverse training grounds in the forest, heath and deer-park
- Limited number of participants
- Conveying expertise concerning the topic „Dogs and Hunting“
- Radius training of the dog in 10 meters around the dog owner
- Long line training
- Eye contact from a distance
- Distance control (commands: sit, down, stay) from a distance of 10 meters
- Learning to retrieve
- Building an utterly reliable recall
- Channeling the search instinct on other objects
- Bonding in the human-dog relationship
- Dependable conduct of anti-hunt exercises with constant distraction and therefore a higher difficulty level
The dog as a natural predator has a reflexive pleasure to chase cats, bunnies or deer. This doesn’t usually generate enthusiasm of the dog owner if the dog disappears for a short or longer amount of time, especially if the dog then returns with the neighbor’s cat. Control in respect to deer and other pets is a supreme discipline for dogs and depending on the breed a great challenge for the owner. The purpose of anti-hunt training is to build a certain radius around ourselves which the dog should learn to keep while running around us. Under constantly increasing distraction we are building an utterly reliable recall that will cause the dog to leave the rabbit alone to get back to you as fast as possible.
